A pair of superb Italian carved stone lions; late 18th or early 19th century copies of the originals by Antonio Canova which are the guardians of the tomb of Pope Clement X111 (1693-1769) in St. Peter's, Rome.
The recumbent lions are a great size with lovely faces; one awake and one sleeping, in pitted and weathered white Vincenzo stone.
