Iron rocking chair manufactured by W.R Winfield, England 1840-1850. The same model is exhibited in the V & A museum, although this one still retains its original black leather slung seat.

A wonderfully advanced design for its time which the V & A website quotes as representing "a particularly Victorian desire for conspicuous modernity, without sacrificing an equal devotion to comfort".
